Designers Are Honing Their Nesting Instincts

The market crashed two days after Macqua designer(designer toej) Meike Vollmar debuted in New York last September, but unlike the Dow, she's bouncing back and showing here a second season. "In New York, people are open to discovering new things even though there's so much going on," the Berlin-based designer says, explaining her decision to take a second bite at the Big Apple. "I don't want to ignore what's going on in the world," she adds, "but the dreamer in me always comes in, creating a mix between realism and dreaminess." If last season is anything to go by, expect clever variations on minidresses and cropped leather jackets.
