Kimberly Ovitz designs the kind of hard, street-hip looks that go best with studded Givenchy boots and a boyfriend in a band—stovepipe wool trousers, shredded cashmere sweaters, cutout elastic dresses. But what makes this L.A. native’s mostly black-and-white collection so hot is that underneath the exposed zippers and chain-mail details, each piece is essentially a revved-up version of a classic silhouette. “Women should be able to interpret each piece for themselves,” says the 26-year-old daughter of Hollywood heavyweight Mike Ovitz and who, despite having grown up in Beverly Hills with a number of boldface brats, is happier discussing Jasper Johns than the crowd at the Chateau Marmont. In her hands, a white shirt becomes an exaggerated, high-collar take on a starched button-down; her back-pleated, cropped jacket is a riff on an equestrian blazer.
